My name is Jono, a postgraduate fine artist from Merseyside, England.

I have been painting since I could crawl, I'm sure I'm not alone in approaching art as a means of escapism, freedom and enjoyment, to create for a change rather than consume. The healing qualities and prospects of art are powerful and something I'm extremely faithful and passionate in. Art has brought me through graduating university at LJMU, studying abroad in Saarbrücken Germany, Volunteering in Sri Lanka, having a sculpture in central London, seeing the world, forming connections and pulling myself out of dark times. Creating paintings is part of who I am and something I will carry for life. Feel free to look around and if you see something you like, consider snagging it to add some joy to your wall space.

Warm Regards

Jono ;)

My Journey
Artistic Vision

There's a specificity and discipline to what I decide to paint. My work consists of mainly Acrylic Paintings, some over salvaged and second-hand objects. Most of my paintings and objects are stimulated by familiarity, this familiarity acts as an emotional hook and presents the viewer an entry point they can identify with, to catch their attention and allow the work to speak for itself.

I’m drawn to a process of painting the cultural constructs, everyday heroes, rituals and zeitgeists I see throughout my life. My work follows a path from an authentic working-class viewpoint that positions itself with the tenderness and charm of working-class lived experiences and areas of society. I produce artwork as a product of absorbing my surroundings and making sense of the world around me, through my work I’m keen on challenging material hierarchy and the constructs that sit within the conventions of presentation, in a strategic manner that is intentionally absurd and Playful.
